Lori Dokken welcomes Ginger Commodore and her daughter Ashley to a special Mother/Daughter Club Day Monday.
Ginger Commodore is a singer, songwriter and actress who enjoys an illustrious career in the Twin Cities area. She is an original member of the Grammy Award-winning singing ensemble The Sounds of Blackness. Ginger’s career has led her to travel the world performing across the U.S., in Italy, England, Finland, Portugal, and Japan. She has expanded into producing and performing in tribute shows in the Twin Cities. Ginger is a teaching artist with the Vocal Essence “Witness” School Program and recently debuted as Musical Director for the musical ‘Memphis’ presented by Artistry at the Bloomington Center for the Arts.
Ashley Commodore is a singer from a family of accomplished musicians. Her mother (Ginger Commodore), father (Bobby Commodore), and brother (Brandon Commodore) are all Twin Cities gems performing varied music genres.
Ashley has been a featured singer with The Sounds of Blackness. She also sings in a band led by her drummer brother Brandon (previously of the band Mint Condition) called #MPLS, performing R&B and other music highlighting the “Minneapolis Sound.” She is a singer with the band, the VU, who back up legendary national recording artist Stokley Williams.
Ashley recently became a member of the local Jazz Ensemble Moore by Four where she joins her mother (Ginger) performing in famed venues the Dakota, Crooners Supper Club, and Chanhassen Dinner Theatre.
