A solo musical based on memories of Ann’s award winning Broadway debut as Mary Flynn in the 1981 Stephen Sondheim musical, Merrily We Roll Along Thursday, April 25, 7:30 pm, in the Theater. Merrily From Center Stage recalls a time in 1981 when the legendary musical team of Hal Prince, Stephen Sondheim, and George Furth was creating Merrily We Roll Along, a new musical for Broadway. Coming off the success of other Sondheim shows like Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, and Sweeney Todd, expectations were high for this new collaboration. But critics panned the show, and after 52 previews and 16 performances, Stephen Sondheim’s greatest flop closed. Now, more than four decades later, Merrily We Roll Along is playing to standing ovations on Broadway. Ann Morrison’s Merrily From Center Stage will do the same for one night only at The Woman’s Club Theater.
