Chastity Brown
Chastity Brown is a storyteller in the blues tradition. The Minnesota-via-Tennessee songwriter and musician tells stories populated by marginalized characters to stake her own space as a queer black woman and to speak to other experiences oftentimes ignored. She was signed by Red House Records and released her acclaimed album Silhouette of Sirens in 2017, touring with artists such as the Indigo Girls, Ani Di Franco, Andrea Gibson, Jayhawks, The National, and Michael Kiwanuka.

Eric Hutchinson
New York-based performer Eric Hutchinson is an international platinum-selling singer, songwriter, and seasoned touring artist, known for a knack for witty lyricism and hummable melody. He has performed in all 50 states and shared the stage with acts such as Jason Mraz, Amos Lee, Ingrid Michaelson, and Michael Franti. Hutchinson’s latest album, Before & After Life, inspired by the birth of his daughter, Zelda, is a complex, introspective, and jazz-tinged record that weighs happiness against sadness.

Dessa
Singer, rapper, and writer Dessa has made a career of bucking genres and defying expectations. She's appeared on the Billboard charts, recorded with the Grammy-winning Minnesota Orchestra, contributed to The Hamilton Mixtape and the RBG documentary soundtrack, and performed at clubs and festivals on five continents. She’s written for The New York Times and National Geographic Traveler, presented a TED talk with over 4 million views, and published a memoir My Own Devices that was recognized by NPR and Amazon as a best book of 2018. Dessa also hosts the science podcast Deeply Human—a co-production of the BBC, American Public Media, and iHeartRadio—that features surprisingly intimate interviews with leading researchers on human behavior. The LA Times wrote that Dessa “sounds like no one else;” NPR’s All Songs Considered called her “a national treasure."

Mason Jennings
This year marks a significant anniversary for Mason Jennings, his first and self-titled release is in its 25th year of circulation throughout the Twin Cities and beyond, while Jennings himself sits on the verge of releasing his 14th full-length studio album, “Real Heart.” Jennings says “Real Heart” is a departure from his earlier work, speaking to the evolution of his sound as a product of getting older.
“I think the perspective shifts a little bit. It’s all pretty personal. I think the big difference on this record is it’s not as many straightforward romantic love songs – a little more like a personal reflection record.”
He added, “It doesn’t feel the same to me as my earliest stuff, it seems a little more unabashedly folk – there’s a little more sophistication to the harmonic stuff, too.”
Jennings said the record, produced by Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard and Regan Hagar for the pair’s Seattle label Loosegroove Records, was four years in the making. It started as a conglomeration of songs written mostly by guitar and piano from his home, comparing the final product to something you might have heard from Cat Stevens or Nick Drake.
“I started kind of collecting songs together and, I was like, well, maybe I’ll send him [Gossard] 20 songs,” Jennings said. “And then I was thinking maybe he would take the guitar off and we would maybe make an electronic album or something like that. So I sent him these songs, and he’s like, ‘No I think it should be really acoustic, the guitar playing is really central to these.’ So we ended up making a real acoustic sort of record.”
