CIub Day Monday - The First Club Day Monday Guest Artist Showcase
Monday, May 6
5:00 pm: Open for drinks & dinner
5:30 pm: Concert
One of the things that contributes to the quality of life in the Twin Cities is the talented artists who live and perform here. Audiences don’t always have the chance to experience them, but Club Day Monday is changing that. Occasionally, we will showcase artists that need to be seen and heard. On May 6 we welcome Chrisette Bany, Alex Persaud, Ethan Poindexter, & Emily Rubbelke.
Chrisette has been performing for over 20 years. With her warm, sultry tones, she has been compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Karen Carpenter, and Norah Jones. She pays homage to their classic jazz and pop traditions while infusing them with modern sensibilities. The late Larry Dunsmore said of Chrisette, “Discovering your talent is rather akin to seeing a new comet for the first time.”
Alex Persaud started performing at age six. She studied commercial voice and music business, and is completing a degree in interdisciplinary music studies at the Berklee School of Music. Alex sings with an 80s variety band as well as with R&B, pop, and country groups.
Over the past 20 years Ethan Poindexter has built a career in the restaurant industry, opening 12 bars and restaurants and creating craft cocktail menus across the Twin Cities, most recently at Khâluna, Eat Street Crossing, and the Hewing Hotel. As the first queer POC craft bar Lead in the Twin Cities, they have made a name for themselves in creating pathways for women, POCs, and queer people in craft bartending.
Emily Rubbelke has performed her entire life; from musicals to choirs and church cantoring, she does it all. Most recently, she appeared in Cross Community Players’ production of She Loves Me at the Plymouth Playhouse. When you’re at the Club, you might hear Emily singing, as she is also The Woman’s Club’s Marketing Associate.
