2007 GRANT RECIPIENTS
This mission dates back to the Club's founding in 1907 and continues to be fulfilled in ways that reflect the times and needs of the Twin Cities.
The charitable giving efforts of the Woman's Club have resulted in over $4,000,000 in grants to local organizations with an emphasis on the needs of women and children. Throughout our history, the Club has been part of the vanguard on initiatives such as the Minnesota Visiting Nurse Agency, the Planning Commission of the city of Minneapolis, the Minneapolis School lunch program and the enactment of the state's child labor laws.
We continue that tradition in our support of organizations that serve otherwise unmet needs.
In 2007, the Woman's Club distributed an unprecedented $110,000 in scholarships and grants to local nonprofit organizations that benefit women and children. Programs that received grants in 2007 include:
The Assistance League of Minneapolis/St. Paul supports at-risk children and adults through several programs in the Twin Cities. Our funds will be used to provide school clothes and winter apparel for elementary school children.
Joyce Preschool has been a succesful inner city bi-cultural preschool for over 10 years. Their Spanish/English immersion program also has a strong parent component for nurturing readiness.
