Grants and Scholarships

From its earliest beginnings, The Woman's Club of Minneapolis has had charitable giving and community involvement as a driving purpose. In 2007, we distributed $110,000 in grants and scholarships. In the past decade, we have donated approximately $600,000 to local charities.

Grant applications are due each February. This year's grant recipients were recently honored at a May luncheon.

All organizations receiving grants must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Preference is given to applicants who meet the needs of women and children.

Funding for the Club's grants comes from the activities of the Charitable Ways and Means Committee (such as The Woman's Club Annual Gala and Tulips Are Trump, the spring bridge event), bequests and memorials and contributions from individual members to the Community Outreach Fund and the Charitable Investment Fund.

The Club also awards a $5,000 scholarship each year to a female student in the University of Minnesota Graduate School. It also annually awards three $1,000 scholarships to women students at the Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
