The Clubhouse
The Woman's Club of Minneapolis is an organization deeply rooted in its place. Our six-story Clubhouse overlooking Loring Park is a historic site, as well as a neighborhood anchor and beacon. A preferred venue for elegant social gatherings, the Club has also hosted speakers ranging from a Thomas Friedman lecture to a Garrison Keillor talk in our Theatre.
Stepping into the 1928 Clubhouse is like stepping back in time to a more gracious and elegant era. As you ascend the stairs and enter the elegant Italianate lounge, note the gorgeous 16th-century fireplace mantel from the palace of the Corsi family of Cortona, Italy. Admire the polished wood floors, the rich Oriental rugs and the lovely furnishings, some procured during a 1920s shopping trip in Europe. Stroll over to the two-story arched windows, which open onto a covered Loggia overlooking Loring Park. But, why imagine the Clubhouse when you can see it for yourself by taking a 360-degree Virtual Tour?
From the lovely lounge to the grand ballroom to the inviting library, the Clubhouse boasts more than 66,000 square feet of impressive and intimate spaces, suitable for nearly every kind of activity or gathering. A $7.5 million restoration completed in 2003 added comforts and conveniences, including an expanded kitchen, a restored dining room and a new lounge bar. In May, 2006, we celebrated the opening of our rooftop patio—one of the most spectacular spots in the Twin Cities, with unparalleled views of downtown Minneapolis and Loring Park.
Club members use the various spaces to host breakfast meetings, forums and networking events; or to just relax with the morning paper. They might grab a cocktail at the stately bar or settle into an overstuffed chair. The Clubhouse is their home away from home—the perfect environment for work or leisure.
