Tuesday Programs - The Power of Pie: Sweet Potato Comfort Pie

Event Date: Tuesday, June 4, 2019
Event Time: 11:00 am

Guest Speaker: Rose McGee

Rose McGee is a sweet potato pie philanthropist and creator of the Sweet Potato Comfort Pie™ approach. She is a 2018 50 Over 50 Honoree, a two-time Charlie Awards Nominee, is featured in the national PBS documentary A Few Good Pie Places, and TEDx talk on The Power of Pie.

It was 2014 during the racial disturbance in Ferguson, Missouri, when Rose felt compelled to bake 30 pies, loaded them into her car and drove to Ferguson to offer comfort. Upon returning home to Golden Valley, she felt a deeper calling to get something done right here at home.

In this program, Rose will tell the story of how she began the Sweet Potato Comfort Pie project–a catalyst for a caring community that inspires others to get involve and serve community in a meaningful way.
