Great Decisions: Russiaís Foreign Policy

Guest speaker Margot Squire is a career diplomat who served for thirty years with the US Information Agency and the US State Department. She served in Munich, Moscow, Melbourne, Baku, Ankara and Washington, DC. Margot managed US government democracy programs throughout the newly independent states of the former Soviet Union. She was also director of Press and Public Outreach for the State Departmentís Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs. 
Under President Vladimir Putin, Russia projects an autocratic model of government and is working to destabilize liberal democracies throughout the world. Russiaís efforts to interfere in the US presidential elections caused an international uproar. Putinís foreign policy has included proxy wars with the US in Georgia, Ukraine and Syria. How should the US respond to Putinís attempts to support right-wing authoritarian regimes?
