Tuesday Programs - Godfrey Friends Program: East Hennepin Walking Tours
Guest Speaker: Scott Parkin
Located across the Hennepin Bridge from Downtown, the East Hennepin neighborhood was originally platted in 1849 as the Town of St. Anthony Falls and later merged with the city of Minneapolis in 1872. Its proximity to the Mississippi River, Downtown, the University, and Northeast Minneapolis have made it an influential hub for transit, industry, and commerce. The last decade has brought dramatic change and the area around East Hennepin is now considered one of the trendiest & most exciting places in Minneapolis to eat, shop, and live.
Realtor Scott Parkin has specialized in this historic area and his love of art and architecture makes him uniquely qualified to be our tour guide. Without leaving The Club, we will hear stories told from the perspective of its residents, shopkeepers, and local historians. Come away with perspective on what life here might have actually felt like throughout the neighborhood's most defining eras.
The Tuesday Program is a Club tradition to educate, inspire and entertain our Members and guests. Coffee and tea are served at 10:30 am in the Lounge, followed by a Guest Speaker in the Ballroom at 11:00 am and lunch in the Dining Room at 12:00 pm. The cost for lunch is $18.00 plus tax and service charge ($23.28, inclusive of tax and service). Reservations are not necessary.
