Tuesday Programs - The #MeToo Movement: A Global Shift for Women

Guest Speaker: Cheryl Thomas

Cheryl Thomas is the founding CEO of Global Rights for Women. The mission of Global Rights for Women, based in Minneapolis, is to work with leaders around the world to advance women and girl's human right to live free from violence through legal reform and institutional and social change. In this presentation, Ms. Thomas will highlight Global Rights for Women's recent work in Morocco and an ongoing partnership with women's rights leaders in Moldova and the Republic of Georgia. 

Since 1993, Cheryl has worked with international partners to promote women's human rights and achieve effective legal reform to end violence against women. 

She has participated in the drafting of new laws on violence against women and girls in more than 20 countries and trained legal professionals to enforce such laws in dozens of countries. She has worked closely with the United Nations to develop model standards on legal reform on violence against women leading a global consultation on the enforcement of laws in Spain in 2015.


The Tuesday Program is a Club tradition to educate, inspire and entertain our Members and guests. Coffee and tea are served at 10:30 am in the Lounge, followed by a Guest Speaker in the Ballroom at 11:00 am and lunch in the Dining Room at 12:00 pm. The cost for lunch is $18.00 plus tax and service charge ($23.28, inclusive of tax and service). Reservations are not necessary.
