Tuesday Program: An Inside Look at Managing Minnesota Forests

Guest Speaker: Gus Smith

Gus Smith has been part of the Forest Leadership Team in the Superior National Forest for the past four years. He comes to Northern Minnesota with extensive experience controlling forest fires, which will be the focus of his talk. As a Fire Ecologist at Yosemite National Park, Gus worked on fire science research in the Sierra Nevada and developed planning tools for Wildland fire management. 

Gus says that he enjoys any opportunity to be outdoors. He loves to paddle, fish, bird watch and cross-country ski. Gus is married to Joy Meeker, daughter of Club Member Wynn Meeker.

 

The Tuesday Program is a Club tradition to educate, inspire and entertain our Members and guests. Coffee and tea are served at 10:30 am in the Lounge, followed by a Guest Speaker in the Ballroom at 11:00 am and lunch in the Dining Room at 12:00 pm. The cost for lunch is $18.00 plus tax and service charge ($23.28, inclusive of tax and service). Reservations are not necessary.
