Tuesday Programs - Behind the Scene: The Making of a City Magazine
Guest Speaker: Jayne Haugen Olson
Every 30 days, a team of writers, editors, and designers create a magazine that reflects our dynamic Twin Cities. But it's not just the print edition. In today's world, media organizations are creating e-newsletters, running social media accounts, and creating special interest publications. What drives the strategy? Where do the ideas come from? How has the industry changed the last 20 years? What is the future of magazines?
A 25-year veteran of local publishing, Jayne Haugen Olson is an award-winning editor who has been recognized locally and nationally for her work and leadership. Jayne also serves as the company's Senior Vice President of Owned Media, overseeing the efforts of both Mpls.St.Paul and Twin Cities Business. A lifelong resident of the Twin Cities, Jayne and her husband Curt Olson are parents to high school-age twin daughters and live in Golden Valley. Jayne is passionate about our cities–especially Downtown Minneapolis–and was recently named to the board of Hennepin Theater Trust.
