Great Decisions: The US State Department: Diplomacy Upended?
Guest Speaker: Molly Hayes
Diplomacy is being practiced differently in the Trump administration. Some positions in the State Department have never been filled and meetings with foreign leaders have been held with minimal advance planning. What effect are these changes having? Will they affect ongoing relationships between the United States and its allies and adversaries?
Molly Hayes served as a foreign policy advisor at the US Department of State from 2008 – 2014. During that time she served in various capacities including as a desk officer for Kenya, Morocco, Libya and Tunisia, a regional adviser for East Africa and a part of the State Department's Egypt Task Force during the 2011 Arab Spring.
